50 Nigerians, landlord arrested over human trafficking
The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has arrested 50 Nigerian nationals, including a landlord, during a dawn operation at McCarthy Hills in the Ga South Municipality.
These arrests stem from allegations of their involvement in cybercrime and human trafficking.
The operation conducted on Thursday, July 24, 2025, was prompted by intelligence reports suggesting that several foreign nationals were illegally residing in the area and may have been trafficked into the country, subsequently coerced into online fraud.
“This operation follows intelligence gathered on the illegal stay of some foreign nationals in the area, some of whom were trafficked into the country and forced into cyber fraud by their facilitators,” said Assistant Commissioner of Immigration M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs at the GIS.
The raid, executed in collaboration with other national security agencies, led to the apprehension of numerous individuals, including the landlord of the property suspected to have been involved in these illicit activities.
Mr. Amoako-Atta indicated that investigations are ongoing, with suspects currently undergoing screening, and promised that updates will be provided as the situation evolves.

This recent operation at McCarthy Hills follows a series of previous raids targeting cybercrime and trafficking networks in residential areas of Accra.
It would be recalled that in April 2025, a collaborative effort involving the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), the Ghana Police Service, and various security agencies led to the arrest of 219 foreign nationals, including minors, during a raid in Oyarifa, located in the Ga East Municipality.
