5 Most Important Things You Need To Know As A Makeup Lover

Source The Ghana Report

The adventure of makeup has not only made women beautiful but has also added some level of confidence to their demure.

My dear ladies passionate about makeup, here are some few things you need to know before engrossing yourselves in the make-up fashion.

Let us take a moment here and really consider the stuff we put on our faces. Are you doing yourself a service or disservice? Do you really know what you are doing? Are you playing makeup or are you bossing it all the way out? Are you buying the right products? Do you know the history of those products? Basically, do you know anything about  that makeup you so adamantly love? Do not fret. Most of us do not know anything about the products we always apply on our faces.

Women who go to beauty schools might be hip to these fun facts, but not every lady knows these hidden facts. If you are curious, keep reading. Share this knowledge with your other makeup slaying friends. Learning is great and sharing is caring. But please, do not share your makeup with each other, that is makeup rule number one.

  • Eye Dilation Was Considered Beautiful

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. She is the apple of his eye and she is loved by everyone. That is the beauty and power a woman carries. Eyes are the window to the soul. Expressions that use eyes show us how important the eye is in culture and beauty. We get lost in each other’s eyes.

Our fascination just doesn’t quit, does it? While the eyes have been the center attraction in terms of women’s beauty, they were also at risk during the last 18th century when Italian women were thought to be more attractive depending on the size of their pupils.

n order to achieve this look, women applied the dangerous “Bella Donna Plant”. However, and unfortunately, the flower and the berries are poisonous and were known to cause blindness or mental weakness; and in some cases even death. As a result of the side effect the product has on the eyes, most ladies started falling on a pair of specialized contact lenses.

In Ghana and other parts of the world, makeup has been the most frequently used product on the face during occasions like weddings, graduations, funerals and others. Too much of everything is bad so as ladies who always want to look good, let us try to minimize the way we apply makeup on our faces.

  • How To Apply Foundation

It seems so easy, right. I mean, just hold up the back of your hand to the colors and see, you have got your match. That is what we were taught, right? Well, girls, we were taught wrong.

First, you have to know your skin type (dry, oily, combination, or sensitive), then you have to know your tone (warm, cool, or neutral). Only from there you can find the best foundation to suit your skin. Also, apply the sample to your jawline as that will give you the best indicator as to whether the color you have selected will match best with your undertones.

Then, before you think about buying, check out the foundation in a natural light because foundation should not be seen, but is rather the canvas upon which we play. To find the right shade of concealer, use the skin on the inside of the arm. And to give a very natural look that is also light and airy, mix foundation with facial moisturizer.

  • What A Contour Kit Is And Does

Contouring is the go-to makeup trend that has taken the world by storm. A contouring kit is a set of foundation shades that are lighter and darker than your actual skin tone.

These highlights and lowlights will help define your face and give you some seriously high cheekbones, a slimmer nose, and a narrower face and/or chin. The contour kit gives a total transformation on a person’s face. You can really do so much with a contouring kit.

If you know anything about how art works, like how paint functions on a canvas, you will be a real pro at contouring. Remember, lighter foundation is applied to the center of your forehead, along the top of your brow lines and the bridge of your nose, on the apples of your cheeks, on your cupid’s bow, and in the center of your chin.

Remember, the dark foundation is placed right below your hairline at the top of your forehead, on the right and left sides of your forehead, near your hairline on either side, along the right and left sides of your nose, in the hollows of your cheeks, along your jawline on both sides, from your ears to the tip of your chin. Good luck but not too much because it is an art form and there is no rushing art.

  • Eyeliner 101

First of all, eyeliner was invented by the Egyptians and used not just for vanity, but as a way to protect the eyes from the glare of the sun and infections.

However, do not get it twisted, they did use it for aesthetic purposes. The Egyptians were only one of the most well-pampered cultures of all time; they took self-care to a new level. The kohl liner was made from lead and used among both men and women. Applying eyeliner can be tricky.

It takes patience, so be aware. If you are venturing into liquid eyeliner, you should know the shape of your eyes and eyelids because a wing that slays on a hooded eyelid will not work on an eyelid that is not hooded. Take your time and do a bit of research, watch some YouTube video tutorials, and buy a few brands to see which one suits you best.

Now, there is an array of colors to choose from, so if you feel like being bold and breaking free from the Egyptian tradition of black liner, go for it. Anytime you go to the market try and get some eyeliner for yourself since it has some benefits  concerning the eyes.

  • Choose Your Mascara With Care

Before the 19th century there was no mascara. Can you believe that? Like really hard to believe, right? Mascara is what gives our face that completed look.

And with fake lashes, we can really imitate a full lash look without much trouble at all. In the 1400s women removed their eyelashes, along with their eyebrows and hair, because it was aesthetically pleasing. You can imagine no mascara, but no hair –like completely hairless? So since mascara is fairly new to modern women, the formula has not been exactly friendly.

Back in the day, waterproof mascara used turpentine. It has not been confirmed if it remains to be one of the ingredients of today’s waterproof mascaras, but do not take the risk.

Better to have mascara running down your face than eyes that have been burned by chemicals. Investigate what you put in and near your eyes; after all, you have only got one set of eyes and you need to protect them.

As a lover of makeup, not not hesitate to always know more about the favourite products you apply on your face.
