5 arrested over murder of MoMo vendor at Nkrankwanta

The police in Nkrankwanta in the Bono Region have arrested five persons over the killing of a Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor, Japhet Yeboah.

Japhet was shot and killed in a brazen robbery at the Nkrankwanta lorry station around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

Disguising themselves as customers, they approached him under the pretence of making a transaction.

Shortly after, they attacked him and demanded money, leading to a struggle.

In the course of the scuffle, Japhet managed to unmask one of the robbers, but he was shot twice and died on the spot.

The robbers then stole an undisclosed sum of money before speeding away from the scene.

The police then launched a manhunt, leading to the arrest of the five suspects.

Confirming the arrest, the Assemblyman for Asuopri Electoral Area, Salifu Basoma, said the police are still on a manhunt for other accomplices.

Meanwhile, the Nkrankwanta Traditional Council has also invoked the gods of their land to help apprehend the other culprits.
