A 43-year-old driver has been arraigned before the Twifo Praso District Court for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl at Twifo Eduabeng in the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District of the Central Region.
Presenting the case before the court, Chief Inspector Joseph Kusah said the suspect, George Antwi, who is also a herbal medicine practitioner, on January 3, 2024, around 8 a.m., invited the victim to his house for medication after having a skin disease she’s been battling for years.
He subsequently dragged the girl into his bedroom, stripped her naked, and pushed her onto the bed after convincing her that he was injecting medicine into her body.
The suspect then switched off the lights, drew down the curtains in the room, opened the radio loudly, and began licking and tickling the girl’s vagina with his tongue and fingers.
The driver, after the act, realized that two younger sisters of the girl had entered the room and witnessed the event.
In an attempt to cover the case and put fear in the children, he threatened to kill them and their parents if they informed anybody in the community.
Despite the threats, the children reported the incident to their parents, and a formal complaint was made to the police while a medical form was issued.
Without hesitation, the police arrested the accused and put him before the Twifo Praso District Court.
He was charged with two counts: indecent assault and threats of harm.
The court presided over by His Worship Maxwell Foli Kpodo, Esq., granted him bail in the sum of Gh¢5,000.00 with two sureties after the accused pleaded not guilty.
He was also prohibited from traveling outside the jurisdiction of the court following the prosecution and Chief Inspector Joseph Kusah’s presentation.
