A 36-year-old man identified as Nii has allegedly killed his ex-wife at Sehwi Yerepemso in the Bia West District of the Western North Region.

According to the former Assemblyman of Papaasi Electoral Area, Baba Solomon, Nii was briefly married to the 32-year-old victim, Afua Patricia.

The former couple have a one-and-a-half-year-old baby together.

Baba Solomon said Afua moved from Kasoa where they resided to her mother’s house at Sehwi Yerepemso when the union broke down.

He added that Nii continuously complained of that move and used that excuse to instigate trouble.

On Sunday, February 18, 2024, Nii traveled to the town and attacked the victim when she was on her way to tidy up the church before the service.

He stabbed her in various parts of her body, leading to her death.

Afua goes to tidy up the church every Sunday. However, she did not return at her usual time.

“Her mother went towards the church route to search for her daughter but instead encountered her daughter’s ex-husband along the way. She asked Nii where his wife was, but Nii told the mother, Afua Patricia had gone on an errand so he took the lead home,” the former Assemblyman said.

The mother, growing concerned, went to report her daughter’s absence to the village committees.

The village committees detained Nii and questioned him but he insisted he did not know his ex-wife’s whereabouts.

They handed him over to the police for further questioning and he confessed to killing Afua, leading them to where the body was hidden.

Meanwhile, the body has been deposited at Sehwi Juaboso government hospital morgue while the suspect has been arrested by the police at Sehwi Adjofua.
