3 suspects arrested over Tarkwa gold agency robbery

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a gold-buying agency at Ackon Tarkwa in the Western Region.

They are Ezekiel Stephen, a Nigerian, Fataw Awudu, a Ghanaian, and Samuel Amaeshi, a Togolese.

The three are part of six masked suspects on motorbikes who robbed the workers of KK Gold at gunpoint on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.

They reportedly subjected the victims to severe beatings and made away with GH₵613,000 worth of gold and an unspecified amount of money.

According to the police, intelligence gathered that the suspects headed towards Essuoso, a village in the same municipality.

Officers from the Police Intelligence Department(PID) followed up and Amaeshi and Stephen were arrested at their hideout with the assistance of the youth in the area.

The police retrieved a sack containing an amount of GH₵397,190 and 4.7 grams of gold after their arrest.

Still acting on intelligence, the police arrested Fataw Awudu on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at a different location.

The suspects are currently in the custody of the Tarkwa Police Command with prosecution in the courts starring at them.

Meanwhile, the police have assured that efforts are underway to apprehend the three other suspects.
