Three construction workers are in critical condition after some individuals believed to be land guards attacked them over a land dispute at Awutu Papaase Number 2 in the Central Region.

The thugs, numbering about eight, invaded the site and opened fire on the victims.

Some residents who managed to escape from the attack said they are living in fear.

They say the land guards terrorize them with guns in attempts to seize their houses and lands without any proof.

The residents are therefore calling on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, to as a matter of urgency, deploy police personnel to combat land guard activities within the area.

According to them, there was a need for the IGP’s swift intervention to salvage the situation.

The injured persons are receiving treatment at the Hospital while Central East Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into the matter.

The area is notorious for land guard menace.

The clash occurred at a time a grader was leveling the disputed land.
