3 more suspects arrested in connection with robbery attack on UENR students
The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested an additional three suspects linked to an armed robbery attack that claimed the life of a student of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR).
On April 16, 2024, a gang of robbers attacked a group of UENR students near Boffourkrom in the Sunyani West Municipality when they were returning from a field trip to the Bui Power Authority.
The robbers also shot and killed one of the students, identified as Abdul Aziz Issah, while six others sustained minor injuries in the process.
The police arrested one suspect right after the robbery attack.
According to a police source, following weeks of police intelligence and investigations, the three were arrested and are currently in detention.
The police also retrieved several mobile phones and other valuables from the suspects who had been arrested in different hideouts.
Meanwhile, investigations are still ongoing to apprehend the rest of the suspects.

This comes after the Tarkwa Circuit Court sentenced 11 persons to 252 years imprisonment in hard labour for armed robbery.
The convicts robbed a gold-buying company at Wassa Akropong in the Western Region on October 5, 2018, and were charged with conspiracy and robbery.
They stole 7.5 kilograms of refined gold valued at GH¢1,543,500, six mobile phones valued at GH¢ 4,800.00, and a cash amount of GH¢250,000.
While the robbery was going on, a Closed-Circuit Television Camera (CCTV) installed at the company’s yard captured them, and after the operation, they drove to Kasoa.
They were later arrested and subsequently arraigned.
