3 killed as truck overturns near Asenema waterfalls

Three people have died in a road crash involving a HOWO 371 truck near the Asenema Waterfalls on the Adukrom–Koforidua Highway.

The victims, all men, were trapped inside the truck after it overturned.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service at the Kpong Municipal Fire Station responded to the emergency.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, March 7, the fire service said its personnel carried out an extrication operation and recovered the bodies of the victims, who were pronounced dead at the scene.

The bodies were later handed over to the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service and transported to the morgue at Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital.

The Ghana National Fire Service said investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.

“Firefighters also cleared the accident scene and ensured the road was safe for motorists before returning to base”, the statement said.
