3 in hot water for stealing sardines from accident scene

Three people have been arrested by the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Command for stealing sardines from a cargo truck that was involved in an accident.

The accident occurred on the Accra-Kumasi highway at Kwahu Fodua in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The fully loaded container, bearing registration number AA 119CY, was travelling from Accra to Kumasi with a driver and his assistant on board when it overturned, obstructing traffic in both directions.

While the precise cause of the accident remains under investigation, initial findings indicate that the driver swerved to avoid a pothole located in the middle of the road, resulting in the vehicle tipping over.

The incident attracted a gathering of residents and passersby. As some individuals helped in towing the truck to clear the roadway, three persons were apprehended for stealing sardines from the overturned container and were subsequently handed over to the police.

The driver and his assistant have been admitted to Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw for medical treatment.
