Three people have been critically injured after a trailer run over three saloon cars at Sokoban in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region.
The accident occurred around 2 pm on Monday, April 10, 2023, after the truck with registration number AS 9456-D veered off the road.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck, which was carrying a 40-foot shipping container, was travelling from Sokoban on the Ahodwo-Trede road.
It reportedly suffered a brake failure and run over the three cars with registration numbers CR1163-16; GT141-16; and GT4250-21.
The injured were immediately rushed to the Asafo Adjei Hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the truck driver and his conductor fled the scene after the accident.
The Assembly member of the Sokoban-Daaban area, Kojo Boateng, however, blamed the accident on the slow pace of the road construction.
“It was dangerous. We are even lucky today is a holiday, it would have been worse. That is why we are saying the contractors should speed up the road construction. I don’t think it would have been a problem if the dual road construction was completed,” he said.
