3 dead, several injured in gory crash on Bekwai–New Edubiase road

Three people have died and several others are injured following a fatal accident involving a minibus and two other vehicles on the Bekwai–New Edubiase Road on the night of Wednesday, August 13.

According to media reports, the crash occurred at Kyiraburoso, near Adansi Asokwa, when an O.A. minibus carrying 14 passengers collided with a faulty Kia truck being towed by a tanker.

The minibus, registered AS 8914-22, was en route to Adansi Asokwa from Accra when the incident happened.

Fomena District Police Commander DSP Samson Wunyi Mumuni confirmed that police received a report of the crash late that night and quickly dispatched officers to the scene.

“Our preliminary investigation indicates the minibus collided with a broken-down Kia truck that was in its lane. The truck was being towed by a tanker headed towards Assin Fosu,” DSP Mumuni said.

The impact killed three occupants of the minibus, while several others sustained various degrees of injury.

Emergency services transported the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Police have launched a full investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause and whether proper safety procedures were followed during the towing of the faulty vehicle.
