3 arrested over missing baby in Tamale

The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Northern Regional Police Command has arrested three persons in connection with a missing baby at One Heart Hospital located in Lamashegu, a suburb of Tamale in the Northern Region.

The suspects are Abubakari Fatima Bintu, Grace Asiedu Mensah, both of whom are nurses and were on duty at the facility together with Abukari Iddi, the security guard on duty at the time of the incident, to assist with investigations.

“The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Northern Regional Police Command, today, Sunday, December 21, 2025 at about 10:30 am received a complaint of baby theft at One Heart Hospital located in Lamashegu, a suburb of Tamale,” said the Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Alhassan Luckman Niendow.

Chief Inspector Niendow disclosed that a lady disguised as a nurse of the facility visited the labour ward and picked the newly born baby boy belonging to the complainant’s sister under the pretext of administering an injection.

He, however, assured that intelligence operations are underway to find the baby and arrest other suspects involved.
