A 25-year-old man has been slapped with a 16-year jail term for stealing musical instruments from two churches.

The convict, Ernest Tetteh, was arrested on Sunday, July 14, at his shop in Abanse, following complaints from The Life of Christ Ministry and Christian Vision International Church.

He was dragged to the Krobo District Court for attempting to sell four GSL speakers stolen from The Life of Christ Ministry’s Nuaso Odjadornya temple.

Two others believed to be accomplices are currently in the custody of the Koletso Police Station.

He was whisked away to the Akuse Prison shortly after the court’s judgment.

The court stressed the need for deterrence, both for the individual and the wider community, to underline that such actions carry serious consequences.

In delivering the sentence, the court also noted the importance of protecting communal spaces and ensuring they remain places of worship and unity, free from the threat of theft and vandalism.
