21-year-old Jamaican ”killed” mother on Mother’s Day

The 21-year-old Jamaica man identified as Tafari Abednego Thompson, is alleged to have killed his 59-year-old mother, Madam Mwassa Tafari at Obosomase-Akuapem in the Eastern Region.

The incident happened on Sunday, May 14, which happened to be Mother’s Day.

The suspect is reported to have used a metal object to inflict multiple wounds on his mother, disfiguring her face in the process.

Tafari Abednego is believed to be mentally unstable.

The suspect reportedly fled into the nearby bush immediately after committing the heinous crime.

When the lifeless body of Madam Tafari was discovered, the youth quickly organized a search party to find Tafari Abednego Thompson knowing that he was the only person living with the deceased and will be in a better position to give an account of what happened.

The search party led by one David Yeboah, looked for the suspect all through the town and the surrounding villages.

Eventually, they found Thompson at the boundary between Obosomase and Dodowa.

According to Tunyejah Tafari Thompson, the elder brother of the suspect, Tafari Abednego had been displaying unusual behavior for the past year, causing significant troubles within the family.

The body of Madam Mwassa Tafari has been deposited it at the Police Hospital mortuary.

It is reported that the police have commenced investigations into the incident.
