21 ATTC students arrested
Twenty-one students of the Accra Technical Training Centre are currently being held at the Cantonments Police Station.
The students are said to have attacked students of the Presbyterian Senior High School, La in Accra.
In what seems to be an ongoing feud between the schools, the attack came as retaliation.
Students of Presec reportedly sighted a video in which some ATTC students destroyed the uniform of one of their colleagues.
This action did not sit well with Presec students, causing them to accost a student of ATTC, who in turn pelted stones.
One student narrated the unfortunate to Joynews, monitored by theghanareport.com.
“We were behind the school when we saw that they were throwing stones into the school. We initially thought it was a joke until the stones kept coming in. When we came to check there were about 30 students from ATTC throwing the stones,” one student narrated.
The police later arrived at the scene and arrested the students behind the riot.
Calm was restored with the presence of the police.
The student however noted that the unfortunate incident could have been avoided if their teachers had been around.
Striking teachers have refused to go back to the classroom over the government’s inability to grant them their 20% Cost of Living Allowance.
“If the teachers were around I believe they wouldn’t have put up with this bad behavior,” narrated by another student.
