Amankwah Forson has been added to the Black Stars squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger, following a rapid recovery from a suspected dislocated shoulder injury.

Initially excluded due to the injury sustained in a Carabao Cup match, the Norwich City midfielder is set to join the 23-man squad announced by coach Otto Addo on Thursday.

Forson will join a talented group of players, including Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo, Mohammed Salisu, and Jordan Ayew.

The 21-year-old has made an impressive start at the Carrow Road, contributing two assists in six appearances since his transfer from Red Bull Salzburg.

Amamkwah, who previously played for the West Africa Football Academy (WAFA), has already earned two caps for Ghana, having played against Nigeria and Uganda in March.

The team commenced training on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium, preparing for crucial qualifiers against Angola on September 5 at the Baba Yara Stadium and Niger on September 9 in Morocco.

With the top two teams from each group qualifying for the AFCON, these matches are critical for the Black Stars’ chances of securing a spot in the tournament.
