2025 AFCONQ: Hoping Accra supports us like Kumasi does- Otto Addo on Sudan game [VIDEO]

The head coach of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, Black Stars, Otto Addo, hopes that football fans in Ghana’s capital, Accra, will support the team as fans in Kumasi have done in recent years.

He said this ahead of Ghana’s crucial 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Sudan with the first game set to kick off at 16:00 GMT on Thursday, October 10 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus will captain the team.

The Accra Sports Stadium will host the game after getting cleared by CAF to do so in the wake of Ghana’s scramble for a Category 3 game worthy edifice after the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi was banned by CAF.

Prior to the withdrawal of approval of the Baba Yara Stadium by CAF to host games, the edifice had served as the mainstay of Black Stars games.

In the wake of the change in venue, Otto Addo indicated in a pre-game presser that he hopes the support in Accra matches that of Kumasi.

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo

“I am happy like I said before that we can play this match here (in Accra). The national team hasn’t played here for a long time…hopefully, we get the support from all the spectators. Sometimes during the game, things can go bad like the first half against Central African Republic (in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers). We were 2-1 down and Kumasi was still supporting us and this is what I hope because we need the support. We need the support of the whole Ghana to win this game.”
