2025 AFCONQ: Angola beat Sudan to top Group F
Angola made it back-to-back wins in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with victory over Sudan on Monday in Luanda.
Despite an eventful first half, there was no goal to separate the two sides.
But it was the Angolans who drew first blood six minutes after the restart following a foul on Milson in the 18-yard box.
Forward Mabululu stepped up and dispatched a clinical penalty to put the hosts ahead.
But the lead did not last long as Mustafa Karshoum’s right footed shot restored parity in the 55th minute.
The match seems to be ending in a draw until Randy Nteka’s deflected shot in the 81st minute put the Palancas Negras ahead and Sudan struggled to find a equalizer.
The defeat was the visitor’s first defeat in five competitive matches under head coach Kwesi Appiah.
Angola now top Group F with six points with Sudan in second with three. Ghana and Niger sit third and fourth respectively with a point apiece.
The qualifiers will resume in the second week of October where Angola face Niger and Sudan meet Ghana in home-and-away ties.
