Ghana’s squad for the 2025 AFCON qualifiers has been updated, with FC Basel’s Jonas Adjetey Adjei replacing the injured Alexander Djiku.

The 20-year-old defender, who has impressed in the Swiss Super League, will join the Black Stars for the first time as they prepare for crucial matches against Angola and Niger.

Adjei’s football journey began at Teshie Football Academy, followed by stints at Accra Great Olympics and Berekum Chelsea before joining FC Basel.

He has been a regular starter for Basel this season, featuring in all six Swiss Super League games.

Adjei is set to report to the Black Stars camp on Monday to begin preparations for the qualifiers, which include a home match against Angola on September 5 and an away match against Niger on September 9.
