2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Black Stars open camp today for Sudan showdown

The Black Stars of Ghana officially kicked off their training camp today in preparation for their upcoming matches against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Last Friday, head coach Otto Addo named a 25-man squad for the crucial doubleheader against the Falcons.

So far, four players—Antoine Semenyo, Elisha Owusu, Brandon Thomas-Asante, and Jojo Wollacott—have reported to camp, arriving on Sunday night. The remaining players are expected to join later today.

In addition, Asante Kotoko’s goalkeeper Frederick Asare and FC Samartex’s defender Isaac Afful are also set to report to camp this morning.

The Black Stars started their first training session today at 16:30 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium, with fans allowed to attend.

However, Tuesday and Wednesday’s sessions will be closed to the public.

Otto Addo and his team are determined to secure all six points from these two matches after a disappointing start to the qualifiers, which saw them lose one and draw another against Angola and Niger.

The first leg of the doubleheader will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, with the return leg set for October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
