2025 AFCON qualifiers: Black Stars can beat Sudan convincingly in Libya – CK Akonnor
Former Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor has voiced his support for current manager Otto Addo as the team faces mounting pressure following a frustrating goalless draw against Sudan.
This result has significantly impacted Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
With the second leg against Sudan—now led by former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah—looming, Akonnor has urged fans to rally behind the Black Stars during this challenging time.
“It’s a challenging period we find ourselves in, but it’s important we stick together and support the team,” Akonnor told Joy Sports.
“It is important we win our remaining matches. Sudan are a good team coached by someone we all know and respect. I however believe we can win.
“This Ghana side is capable of winning and winning convincingly. We just need to support him.”
Currently sitting third in Group F, Ghana’s path to qualification hinges on winning all three of their remaining matches.
The Black Stars will face Sudan on Tuesday in the reverse fixture in Libya.
