2025 AFCON: Kwasi Appiah vows to make Sudan proud

Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah has expressed his team’s readiness to compete and “not disgrace themselves” at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Appiah, who coached Ghana’s national team on two occasions, guided the Falcons of Jediane to qualify for the continental event.

Sudan secured their place by finishing second in Group F with 8 points, despite playing all their home matches on neutral grounds due to the ongoing civil war.

“For me, once we have qualified, there’s nothing we cannot achieve,” he told Asempa FM.

“With God’s help, we will strive to do well, not to disgrace ourselves, but to play in a way that honors our country.”

Sudan’s AFCON history includes a memorable victory as hosts in 1970.

However, they have only advanced beyond the group stage once since then and have qualified for just three of the last 24 editions of the tournament.

The 2025 AFCON, hosted by Morocco, is set to run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
