2025 AFCON: I’m disappointed to be here- Nigeria Head Coach ahead of Bronze Medal Game

Nigeria’s National Men’s Football Team head coach Eric Chelle has confessed that he is disappointed to be competing for the bronze medal at the 2025 AFCON and not the gold medal.

He made this comment in the lead up to Nigeria’s game against Egypt for third place in this year’s AFCON on Saturday, January 17 at 16:00 GMT.

Nigeria lost in agonizing fashion to Morocco in a penalty shootout in the semifinals to miss out on the chance to play in a second AFCON final in a row and Chelle didn’t hide his disappointment over missing the mark by stating at the presser that,

“I’m disappointed to be here. I had big ambitions for this tournament. After we lost to Morocco, I told my players to keep their heads up as they had a great tournament.”

Egypt lost 1-0 to Senegal in the semifinals and missed out on the chance to win a record extending eighth AFCON title.
