2024 African Legends Night: I’m going to perform with my brothers – Yvonne Chaka Chaka

This year’s edition of the African Legends Night concert will take place at the Grand Arena in Accra today, Saturday, October 5.

Since its inception, the African Legends Night has become synonymous with excellence in music and entertainment, consistently delivering world-class performances that celebrate the best of African music.

The event has featured some of the continent’s most celebrated artists, including Hugh Masekela, Femi Kuti, Freddie Meiway, Kanda Bongoman, Amakye Dede, and Daddy Lumba among others.

South African music legend Yvonne Chaka Chaka is one of the headline acts for this year’s concert. With over three decades as a musician, the iconic South African songstress is known for monster hits such as “Umqombothi”, “I’m Burning Up”, and “Thank You, Mr DJ”.

Her music has not only crossed borders but also generations, establishing her as one of the most beloved and enduring voices in the African music industry.

The “Umqombothi”, crooner will be joined by a lineup that includes legendary Ghanaian musicians Okyeame Kwame, George Jahraa, and Adane Best.

Speaking to Caleb Kudah about the concert on Citi Breakfast Show, Yvonne Chaka Chaka stated that, ” I don’t think I am headlining the show..I see Okyeame Kwame, George Jahraa and Adane Best as my brothers… So we are performing together… This is our gig”

She explained, “For me when I go somewhere, I want to feel part of that community, so I don’t want to say them, we are all one people”

After promising to thrill fans with an outstanding performance, she expressed gratitude to the organizers Global Media Alliance for putting on such a spectacular show.
