Equatorial Guinea’s football superstar, Emilio Nsue Lopez, has announced his immediate retirement from international football.

The decision comes after his exceptional performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, where he established himself as one of the best players in Ivory Coast.

During the tournament, Nsue scored five goals, leading Equatorial Guinea to reach the Round of 16 and winning the Golden Boot Award as the top scorer.

However, despite his outstanding performances, he was suspended by the Equatorial Guinea Football Association for misconduct.

Following his suspension, Nsue Lopez accused the football officials in Equatorial Guinea of corruption, stating that they were embezzling funds while the players were struggling on the pitch.

As a result of the controversy, the 34-year-old footballer has decided to retire from international football.
