2023 Afcon: GFA President, EXCO Members to meet media over Ghana’s disastrous campaign

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council is set to hold a press conference at the Lancaster Hotel in Kumasi on Wednesday, February 7, starting at 9 AM.

Key figures, including GFA President Kurt Okraku and GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, are expected to be present.

The press conference follows Ghana’s disappointing performance at the 2023 AFCON in Cote D’Ivoire, where the Black Stars failed to secure a victory in three matches.

Ghana suffered a 1-2 defeat to Cape Verde and squandered leads to draw 2-2 with Mozambique and Egypt, leading to an early exit from the group stage for the second consecutive AFCON edition.

During the press conference, GFA Executive members are anticipated to address various issues, including the quest for a new head coach for the Black Stars, Ghana’s preparations for the 2023 African Games, and the commencement of the second round of the Ghana Premier League 2023-2024 season.

The GFA has been facing significant criticism due to the country’s lackluster football results under the leadership of Kurt Okraku, prompting heightened scrutiny and discussions surrounding the future direction of Ghanaian football.
