2022 World Cup qualifiers: CAF increase fans for Ghana vs. Zimbabwe clash in Cape Coast
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has approved Four Thousand spectators into the Cape Coast Stadium as Ghana host Zimbabwe in the FIFA World Cup qualifier on Saturday.
The decision by CAF shows an increase from the earlier approval of 2,250 fans when Ghana hosted Ethiopia in last month’s opener.
In a statement from the Ghana Football Association, after deliberation with the continent’s football governing body, 4000 fans will be allowed to watch the game on Saturday.
“Through the hard work and negotiating prowess of the Ghana Football Association, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA have approved Ghana’s request to admit spectators for Saturday’s Group G FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifier against Zimbabwe.
“CAF has approved four thousand (4,000) spectators for the match – an improvement over the 2,250 spectators which was approved for last month’s opener against Ethiopia.
“The GFA advise Ghanaians to obey all the Protocols strictly to first and foremost have a successful match and also to avoid any sanctions from CAF and FIFA.
“The Group G encounter between Ghana and Zimbabwe will kick off at 1600GMT on Saturday, October 9, 2021.
Ghana is third on the Group G table with 3 points after two matches whiles Zimbabwe sits at the bottom with 1 point.
The Black Stars of Ghana is focused on recording a win in the upcoming game to enhance their chances of progressing to the play-offs.
Elsewhere, Group G leader South Africa will travel to play Ethiopia in the other group game which also comes off on Saturday.
