2022 World Cup: Baba Iddrisu limps off in Mallorca match raising concern for Ghana
Ghana international Baba Iddrisu has suffered an injury in Spain while in action for RCD Mallorca.
The 26-year-old was in action for his club yesterday in a matchday 14 encounter against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish La Liga.
But he could not finish the game as he was seen in a bit of discomfort as he limped off at halftime, causing him to be substituted during the break.
Even though the extent of the injury is yet to be ascertained, the news of the injury has undoubtedly become a source of concern for Black Stars coach Otto Addo and the rest of the technical team, as the holding midfielder is a key player of the current Black Stars set up.
Otto Addo would hope it is not a serious injury to rule him out of the tournament, as his absence will be a big blow to the West African nation in the midfield.
He will undergo an assessment today to know the extent of the injury.
The Spain-based midfielder is expected to make the final 26-man squad for the World Cup, scheduled to kick off on November 20.
Ghana’s World Cup campaign begins on November 24 against Portugal. They will also face South Korea and Uruguay in Group H.
