2020 campaign live updates: Akufo-Addo calls, Mahama texts
The New Patriotic Party government has announced a GHC20 million package for a tertiary scholarship programme for the first graduates of the Free Senior High School (SHS).
The provision has been made to provide for persons who completed SHS and would be seeking admission into tertiary institutions.
The application has process starts from 1st – 5th December 2020 while the selection interviews have been slated for 16th – 29th December 2020.
It came hours after the opposition NDC announced its own form of tertiary education support dubbed “Fa Ninyinaa”.
“This policy is an enhancement of our commitment in the People’s Manifesto to absorb 50% of the school fees of all tertiary students for the 2020/2021 academic year through the “KYEMUPE” policy, which will now apply to only continuing students in tertiary institutions in the country,” the NDC said.
As we get to the homestretch of the December 7 elections the two major parties are making frantic efforts to garner votes.
Education is a major sector and both parties are promising programmes and policies that appeal to that constituent.
