2 timber guards killed, vehicle burnt in violent attack at Mpamso Forest
The Bono Regional Police Command has commenced an investigation into the murder of two security guards from the ADRAS timber concession and the incineration of a vehicle at the Mpamso forest, located near Nsuhia in the Dormaa Municipality of the Bono Region.
The victims, Sani Aliyu, aged 34, and Ibrahim Musa, aged 35, were killed during an assault by individuals suspected of engaging in illegal chainsaw operations.
In a statement issued by the Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, it was noted that efforts are currently being made to apprehend those responsible for the crime.
The statement detailed that on October 26, 2025, a 41-year-old security guard named Ibrahim Issah, who also works at the timber concession, reported to the police that a group of approximately 200 individuals, believed to be illegal chainsaw operators, armed with firearms and machetes, attacked them at the concession site.
Upon receiving this information, the police promptly arrived at the crime scene and discovered two deceased individuals lying roughly 100 metres apart in a supine position.
The examination of the bodies revealed multiple gunshot wounds.
Additionally, a Toyota pickup truck with the registration number GT 3079-17 was found to have been completely destroyed by fire during the incident.
The statement further indicated that the bodies were recovered and transported to the morgue of the Dormaa Presbyterian Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
It called upon the public to refrain from engaging in such violent criminal activities and to seek resolution of disputes through appropriate channels.
