2 arrested over fatal stabbing of 20-year-old man in Asankrangwa

The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested two persons in connection with the tragic stabbing death of a 20-year-old man in Asankragwa on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

The police, in a statement, indicated that initial investigations uncovered a group, including the suspects, who chased the victim before allegedly attacking him with multiple stab wounds.

This violent confrontation is thought to have arisen from a prior disagreement between the victim and one of the suspects, identified as Kwasi Opong.

Swift action by the police led to the arrest of 36-year-old Kwasi Opong and 23-year-old William Francis Osei, who are currently in custody, cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

There is also a third suspect, whose identity has not been made public yet, who remains at large. Authorities have initiated a manhunt to locate this individual and ensure they are brought to justice.

The deceased’s body has been taken to the Asankrangwa Catholic Hospital mortuary for safekeeping and an autopsy.

The Western Central Regional Police Command assured the public that all persons involved in what it described as a “heinous crime” will face the full rigours of the law.

Meanwhile, the police have appealed to the public to relay any information that may assist in the investigation, urging them to contact the Asankrangwa Police.
