The Bole Police command has arrested Mohammed Samed, a 19-year-old loading boy, for stealing two bags of cashews in the Savannah Region.
Mohammed is said to have hidden the stolen cashew in an uncompleted building near a judge’s residence in Bole.
However, after seeing him in the uncompleted building, the judge, who became suspicious of the suspect’s actions, gave him a hot chase.
He was apprehended and handed over to the police, while his accomplice absconded and is currently on the run.
Mohammed is expected to be put before the Bole District Magistrate Court today, Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
Stealing and other crime activities are gradually gaining ground in most communities.
In rural communities, the increase in stealing can be attributed to various socioeconomic and environmental factors.
Economic hardships, including limited job opportunities and poverty, often push individuals towards theft to survive.
Additionally, the lack of surveillance and security measures in rural areas makes it easier for thieves to operate without detection.
