A tragic and brutal murder has rocked the quiet farming community of Nweneso Number Two in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region.
An 18-year-old girl, identified as Ruth Afia, was killed in a gruesome attack on April 12, 2025, around 1:00 p.m., while residents attended a local funeral.
According to reports, Ruth sustained fatal head injuries believed to have been inflicted with a cutlass. The shocking incident has left the entire community in a state of fear and mourning.
Hon. Freduah Agyemang, the Assembly Member for Nweneso Number Two, stated that the exact motive and circumstances remain unclear.
However, a suspect has been identified after reportedly being seen smoking in front of the house shortly before the victim’s body was discovered by her brother, Henry Acheampong.
“This is the first time our community has faced such horror. We’re calling on the police and security agencies to act swiftly. We also urge residents to come forward with any credible information,” Hon. Agyemang said, emphasizing the community’s distress.
Meanwhile, he said the Ghana Police Service has launched a full-scale investigation into the incident and is appealing to the public to assist in identifying and apprehending those responsible.
Residents remain in shock and are demanding justice for the slain teenager as efforts continue to restore calm and security in the area.
