17-year-old boy allegedly commits suicide
A 17-year-old boy identified as Godfred Nyame has allegedly committed suicide in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality of the Western Region.
The deceased is a student of Alhaji Mustapha Islamic Junior High School (JHS) at Aboso.
It is reported that Godfred was found hanging dead from a ceiling fan in his uniform in an uncompleted church building near his school.
Some church members who went to the auditorium on Friday morning for devotion discovered the lifeless body.
Godfred’s father, Isaac Bennett, described his son in an interview as a shy and calm person admired by many in the community.
However, he revealed that Godfred left a note behind written in Fante, indicating that he had been wrongly accused of a crime.
Mr Bennett said the mother threatened to report him to his teachers for stealing her GH₵ 200 and suspected that might have triggered his action to commit suicide.
Meanwhile, the father said the note has been handed over to the police for further investigations.
