On the back of Winnifred Ntumi’s inspiring performance to win Ghana’s first medals at the 13th African Games, the host nation of the multi-sport competition has picked up another medal.

Abeiku Jackson finished second in the Men’s 50 Metre Butterfly swimming final to clinch another silver medal in the competition for Ghana.

Jackson finished with a time of 24.42 seconds with fellow Ghanaian swimmer Harry Stacey finishing fifth in the event.

Speaking after the win, Jackson was happy to pick up the medal and highlighted the need to recognize gradual progress in performance in the competition.

“You have to celebrate every single achievement; if you don’t celebrate every little achievement, how would you move forward. It’s obviously a stepping stone but we have to celebrate it.”
