138 for, 136 against, Ghana’s parliament approves 2024 budget
The dust is settled. The Parliament of Ghana has approved the Government’s 2024 Budget. One absentee on the Minority side dealt a blow to their resolute opposition to the budget at the preliminary stages. This means the House was packed by Majority.
The decision was by a headcount won by a simple majority. The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin pronounced the verdict after the tortuous lead-up to this outcome. A hard-fought. The Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta can heave a sigh of relief and get going.
Ghana’s Parliament is a near tie between the two sides as far as the numbers are concerned.
