12 staff test positive for COVID-19 at top Ghanaian law firm

A total of 12 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 at law firm, Minkah-Premo & Co., located in Accra.

One in five of the staff who were tested had acquired the disease, prompting the firm to shut down for a week for fumigation exercise to take place.

“Out of 62 members of staff tested for COVID-19, twelve 12 of them have regrettably tested positive for the virus,” a statement from the firm said.

The release on Monday, July 6, which was signed by Partner-In-Charge of Human Capital & Client Relations, Kwaku Gyau Baffuor, said affected staff have been informed.

“None of the affected staff has manifested symptoms, and they are all currently in relatively good health,” the company noted.

In addition, a COVID-19 subvention package has been issued individually to the patients.

In the meantime, all members of staff have been directed to work from home until further notice.

Should there be a need for a member of staff to perform any activity of some degree of urgency for a client or for the firm, which requires personal contact, they are to liaise with management to be directed on the safest and most appropriate way of going about it.

Since the first reported case in Ghana, the firm said they have procurement, deployed and distributed Veronica buckets, solar-powered hand-washing sinks, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, nose masks, gloves and temperature guns.

Also, they have enforced a strict ‘no mask no entry policy’.

The firm has also cancelled all in-person office meetings and conferences, and the use of online tools such as Zoom video conferencing and Google Meet are being employed.
