10 severely injured in Potsin accident
Ten people are in critical condition after a tipper truck collided with a Toyota Hiace passenger mini bus at Mustapha Plus near Potsin Junction on the Kasoa – Winneba Highway in the Central Region.
According to an eyewitness, Matthew Mensah, who helped to remove the victims from the mangled vehicle, the car which caused the accident failed to stop after a wrongful overtaking.
As a result, the truck driver lost control and collided with the passenger bus travelling from Takoradi to Accra.
The victims were rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment.
The accident happened on Saturday, May 4, 2024, in the evening.
The case has been reported to the Gomoa Potsin police for investigation.
The collision occurred around 8:00 pm on Friday, May 3, 2024, between a DAF truck with registration number AW 163-18 and a mini Nissan bus GG 2611-23 en route from Kumasi to Konongo.
Sadly, the victims, comprised of two males and a female, were occupants of the Nissan bus, while the driver of the DAF truck sustained injuries.
Authorities moved swiftly, depositing the bodies at the Konongo Government Hospital mortuary for further procedures.
Ado Frank Sakye Owusu, the Public Relations Officer of Konongo Divisional Fire Service, confirmed the unfortunate incident.
